When Austin Scott describes his workouts, it sounds as if he is transforming himself as a football player.
"There's a part in your workout where the pain starts to take over your thoughts and feelings," the Penn State fifth-year running back said. "You have to recognize the pain and recognize what it is. Not retreat. Go toward it. Know the pain is helping you."
Scott hopes that his past struggles - injuries, time in coach Joe Paterno's doghouse, a redshirt season on the practice squad - all add up to be worth the pain this season.
Scott entered Penn State as the next big thing out of Parkland High School, having racked up 3,853 yards and 53 touchdowns. But most of his career in Happy Valley has been spent waiting for big things to happen.
