Those entering this fall seem to have quite a bit to be proud of. Admissions is hoping to enroll 575 students, up from 530 this past fall, which would make them one of the largest classes in quite some time. 200 of students decided early decision to make Stevens their home in the fall. Over 2,900 applied to Stevens, which is an increase compared to past years. The acceptance rate dropped from 52% last year to 47% this year, allowing Stevens to become more selective in its admissions process.

With the anticipated increase in enrolled students and the increase of applicants, the waiting list has also been increased to reflect the growth. This coming year, anticipated growth in enrolled freshman will bring Stevens to a level which it hopes to maintain for the foreseeable future.

On the topic of the incoming class Dean Gallagher remarked "Stevens is very pleased with the academic qualifications of the incoming class." He later added that he was proud that Stevens still "holds true to the interview" considering the number of the applicants.

Early indicators for the incoming class point to growth in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Bio-medical Engineering. It was also noted that Stevens continues to see a rise in undecided engineering students which is currently being attributed to the value of the Bachelors of Engineering degree.

As for the students themselves, the Dean noted a number of trends such as an increased number of Eagle Scouts, track and field / cross country students, and students interested in community service.
